  • Date and Time: Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 6:30 PM
  • Location: Perko's in Modesto (901 North Carpenter Road)
  • Speaker: Marti Ikehara
  • Topic: New NGS Products: 2011 adjustment for both CORS and passive, GEOID12, New CORS, DSWorld software

Marti's website at Caltrans.

Marti is the State Geodetic Advisor with National Geodetic Survey, which is an agency within NOAA. She has been in this position in California for 13 years; prior to that, she was a ground-water hydrologist with the US Geological Survey in Honolulu and Sacramento for nearly 20 years. Accurate geospatial relationships ultimately rely on being tied to geodetic control. One of her main duties is to help the public utilize control in their surveying and mapping projects. Of increasing interest is determining and understanding the relationship between geodetic vertical and tidal datums along the coast and tidally-influenced waters.

From Marti:
"For a link, you could add this if you want:
http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/PC_PROD/PARTNERS/index.shtml
as the place to get DSWorld software (free) that I encourage people to download and IMMEDIATELY go to Tools, Update Program.

You can download Marti's Power Point Presentation.

Follow up note from Marti:

Hi Keith:
In the ppt presentation I made on Aug 22nd, I had included a slide showing the differences between GEOID09 and GEOID12. I mentioned that I wasn't sure where it came from as I had just gotten it mere hours before I came to the meeting. I later found out who put it together and want to give credit where credit is due.

Kevin Kelly, ESRI Geodesist created those figures relating to the comparisons between the two geoids (one figure had two profiles).
