Lance is the Chief Cadastral Surveyor for California, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the Department of Interior and has been employed with the federal government for over 32 years. His responsibility of the Cadastral Survey Program is overseeing the maintenance and propagation of the Public Land Survey System, including all Federal interest and Native American lands throughout California, Hawaii and the South Pacific. Additionally, he supervises all mapping activities along with federal ownership records and the Information Access Center for the public. During his federal career with the BLM he has worked in every state west of the Mississippi/Missouri Rivers except Kansas, Utah and Idaho. Lance is a state licensed land surveyor, a member of the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping and is a member of the California Land Surveyors Association. For fun, he owns and operates a small horse ranch and plays a lot of golf.
