  • Topic: Mr. Reese presented information on Professional Practice Committee issues at the state Association and Chapter levels, including Land Surveyors Right of Entry issues and focusing on Monument Conservation problems and remedial efforts taking place around the state. Handouts were available.

About the speaker:

Robert J. Reese
After high school in New England and a year as a foreign exchange post-secondary school year in Godalming, Surrey, England, Robert Reese entered the Brinker School of Surveying at Denver Institute of Technology in 1982. He was awarded Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society membership in 1983. In 1984, having worked for a Denver engineering company as a survey crew member, he moved to San Luis Obispo, California, where he worked as a field surveyor for a surveying and engineering company in Arroyo Grande, California. In 1989 Robert was licensed as California PLS 6208 and assumed the position of Chief of Surveys for his employer. In 1998 Robert started REESE Water & Land Surveying Services, and began developing hydrographic surveying capabilities. Robert focuses on bathymetric surveying and mapping, tidal datum determination, sidescan sonar imaging, GPS control work, topographic surveying and mapping, retracement of older boundary surveys, consulting expert and expert witness services, and consulting on littoral and riparian boundary issues. Robert has been a member of California Land Surveyors Association since 1985, including President of the Central Coast Chapter (1994) and state Association (2006). His professional memberships include NSPS, NALS and the Hydrographic Society of America. His current involvement in CLSA is Professional Practice Committee Chair, Bylaws Committee member, Advanced Technology Committee member, Past President Advisory Committee member.
